Your Journey into the Wild

Pickup begins at 08:00 from Aurora River Camp in Poikkijärvi. During the one-hour transfer toward Nikkaluokta, your experienced wildlife guide helps you keep watch for moose, reindeer and other Arctic animals along one of Lapland’s most scenic winter roads.

Sámi-Inspired Coffee Break

Halfway through the morning we stop outside the picturesque Nikkaluokta Church, framed by mountains and rich Sámi heritage. Here, we enjoy a traditional Sámi-inspired sandwich with smoked reindeer meat, served with hot drinks. It’s a cultural and culinary moment that connects you to Lapland’s traditions.

On the Way Back

The return journey continues our wildlife search as we drive slowly through moose territory once again. This time of the morning often brings new sightings — moose crossing open fields or feeding near the birch forests along the road. Keep your camera ready, because every encounter is unique.

Along the way, we may also spot reindeer herds, Arctic hares in their white winter coats, or even eagles and owls scanning the snow-covered landscape. Each sighting reminds us of Lapland’s living wilderness and its delicate balance between animals, people and nature.
